A Mental Health Clinician is required for a State Government Department. Your new company
Hays Recruitment Townsville are pleased to collaborate with a State Government Department who specialise in Youth Support Services. This department is dedicated to ensuring the safety of Queensland communities, providing support to victims and tackling complex situations with care.
Your recent role As the Mental Health Clinician, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team of allied health professionals, delivering high-quality, culturally sensitive, clinical and therapeutic services to young people. Your expertise in developmental and cognitive assessments will be crucial and integral to this role.
The key responsibilities for this role are as follows: Provide high-quality clinical knowledge and services to support collaborative case planning and tailored therapeutic interventions for young people in youth detention. Develop and implement behaviour support strategies, intervention plans, and management for young people with complex and challenging behaviours, and conduct discipline-specific assessments and reports.
Coordinate and facilitate multi-disciplinary and multi-agency suicide risk management processes, including developing and reviewing safety intervention strategies and suicide prevention plans. Support coordinated and integrated service responses across multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders within Queensland. Actively participate in clinical case conferences and case management activities.
Offer specialised practice and case management advice to internal and external stakeholders, including interagency panels and various government agencies, regarding the clinical care and management of young persons. Demonstrate cultural capability and communicate effectively. Lead peer collaboration and case discussions to support clinical learning, development, and continuous practice improvement.
Contribute to strategic and operational planning, policy and practice development, and quality improvement reviews. Understand the complexities of a high-risk environment and assist with safety and security by adhering to operational procedures. Apply independent professional judgment to a complex caseload, contributing to the development of evidence-based allied health services.
Support the delivery of specialised training to staff on topics such as neurodevelopmental disability, mental health, trauma-informed practice, suicide risk, and communication with young people. Undertake professional supervision, training, and development to maintain discipline-specific registration requirements and ensure quality client services. What you'll need to succeed
To excel in this role, you will need to possess the following: A relevant tertiary qualification in either Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Pathology, along with current registration if required.
Full Australian working rights. The ability to provide a clear Criminal History Check. Hold a current
