We're offering an exceptional opportunity for a Gastroenterology Registrar (Advanced Trainee – Year 3 equivalent) to join a high-performing, collaborative team delivering cutting-edge care across the Northern suburbs of Adelaide. This role places you at the forefront of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) management—one of the most rapidly advancing areas in modern gastroenterology.

As a Gastroenterology Advanced Trainee Year 3, you will work within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) delivering specialist gastroenterology care across inpatient and outpatient settings.
The position will focus specifically on Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) – subspecialty clinic attendance, IBD multidisciplinary team meetings and intestinal ultrasound training. The candidate will also have exposure to hepatology – high-volume inpatient and outpatient liver disease management, participation in liver disease clinics as well as exposure to motility disorders including training in and reporting manometry studies. In addition, when the opportunity arises, the candidate will be exposed to interventional endoscopy procedures.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing a complex gastroenterology inpatient caseload under consultant supervision
* Performing and developing competency in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures
* Contributing to outpatient clinics, including inflammatory bowel disease and hepatology services
* Participating in on‐call responsibilities, teaching of junior medical staff, and unit quality improvement activities
To be eligible for this position, you must hold a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration.
As per the SA Health Salaried Medical Officers Enterprise Agreement 2025, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12 month allocation as Medical Practitioner will be determined in line with your training and SA Health's requirements. This may include transference to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills and capabilities.
The Total Indicative Remuneration figure is calculated taking into account base salary, leave loading and superannuation as well as managerial allowances, professional development or any other allowances where appropriate.
