You will build and maintain strong relationships with local, metropolitan and national media, helping to support Ageing Australia’s priorities, advocacy and campaigns. Key responsibilities include: Writing good news stories about the aged care sector and the people involved. Writing copy and feature stories for Ageing Australia’s magazine- Aged Care Today. Developing positive and proactive relationships with media outlets and journalists Preparing media releases, speeches, briefing notes, articles and presentations Supporting public affairs and social media activity to strengthen Ageing Australia’s profile Monitoring media coverage and preparing media updates for stakeholders Responding to media enquiries and undertaking research and fact-checking Supporting campaign activity through storytelling, member liaison and case studies Liaising with internal teams to communicate media coverage across channels Assisting with government briefings and ministerial documents related to PR and content activity About you To be successful in this role, you will bring: Qualifications in Journalism, Public Relations or a related discipline and/or substantial experience as a journalist, or media adviser Demonstrated experience in media relations and public affairs activities, including speech writing and social media promotion Exceptional written communication skills across print, digital and online channels The ability to tailor communications for a variety of audiences Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams A proactive approach, sound judgement and strong attention to detail A genuine passion for advocacy, communications and the aged care sector.
