Product Development Chemist – Construction Materials
Master Builders Solutions (MBS) is a global leader in innovative construction solutions. The role is part of the Technical Team, focusing on the development of concrete admixtures and cementitious products.
Key Responsibilities
* Partner with Technical, Sales, and Product Managers to identify and explore product opportunities.
* Design and conduct experiments to develop robust formulations and evaluate feasibility.
* Lead formulation localization in collaboration with Global R&D teams.
* Prepare trial mix designs and design experimental test programs to support product development, regulatory requirements, and method validation.
* Design and deliver lab trials, testing programs, and performance monitoring in line with AS 1478, AS 1012, and relevant standards.
* Analyse and interpret test results to guide decision‐making.
* Support plant and field trials, scale‐up studies, and product launches.
* Maintain lab operations, equipment, documentation, and provide guidance to lab technicians.
* Prepare clear, evidence‐based technical reports and presentations for stakeholders.
* Ensure all work meets WHS, ISO 17025, and Australian Standards requirements.
Qualifications
* A degree in Industrial or Applied Chemistry, Materials Science, or a relevant field; or strong industry experience.
* At least 5+ years of experience testing concrete, mortar, or grout.
* Solid understanding of raw materials and their roles in formulations.
* Ability to work methodically, analyse data, and make sound recommendations.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfort working across disciplines.
* Good physical capability for concrete and mortar testing activities.
* Proven track record of taking ownership and following through.
