Project Overview

The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia. It is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. The Project is owned by Harmony, a world‐class gold and copper mining and development company with assets in South Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea. Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non‐Process Infrastructure.
Job Summary
In this role, you will lead the Bechtel EVA Copper surveying team to support Bechtel's direct hire execution of the EVA Copper processing plant. You will support constructability plans, estimates, construction engineering deliverables, training, construction design related decisions, project assessments, recommendations, proposal efforts, and staffing activities. Your interdisciplinary coordination will help ensure designs are safe, constructible, and cost effective. You will use your expertise to improve Bechtel's existing methods by initiating project assessments and implementing improvements. This role is offered on a FIFO basis to Cloncurry, QLD on a 2/1 basis.
Major Responsibilities
* Lead the Bechtel EVA Copper Surveying team.
* Responsible for the accurate layout of construction work, recordation of field data according to job specifications and appropriate methods of performing survey activities.
* Provide Construction Survey support to both Field Engineering and Field Supervision.
* Establish and/or verify and maintain the project's survey control network.
* Review Survey Control field work and perform accurate network least squares adjustments.
* Provide Civil project completion documentation including "As‐Built" records.
* Support the implementation of projects machine control technology.
* Perform and/or check survey computations as required in the performance of duties.
* Prepare survey CAD drawings as required in the performance of duties, including generation of Digital Terrain Models (DTM) and volume computations.
Education and Experience Requirements
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and years of relevant experience or years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
* Multi‐Disciplined Field Engineering Survey experience with earthwork, excavation, concrete, structural steel, mechanical, and piping, etc. installation layout and verification.
* Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
* Knowledge of construction survey principles.
* Demonstrated ability to work in a team‐based environment, able to formulate a working relationship with survey team members, other departments, contractors and survey functional management.
* Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner.
* Demonstrated experience with Robotic Total Stations, Digital Levels and GNSS survey systems.
* Demonstrated experience using Trimble survey equipment and Access field software.
* Demonstrated proficiency with Survey CAD software, including generation of Digital Terrain Models (DTM) and volume computations.
