Associate Accountant

Finance, Strategy and Business Intelligence (FSBI)

* Continuing, full-time
* $94,326 to $103,681 per annum (HEO6)
* Plus 17% employer superannuation

About the role

The Associate Accountant is a vital member of the Finance, Strategy and Business Intelligence (FSBI) division at UNE, contributing to the University's financial sustainability and strategic vision. Reporting to the Senior Accountant, this role is accountable for delivering accurate, timely, and compliant financial information to support informed decision-making across the University. The Associate Accountant manages financial operations for the UNE Foundation, ensures compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, and provides expert advice to stakeholders. By fostering collaboration, promoting continuous improvement, and maintaining strong relationships, the Associate Accountant plays a key role in advancing FSBI's commitment to innovation, transparency, and excellence in financial management.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will bring solid expertise in financial accounting, with the ability to confidently apply accounting standards, policies, and procedures. You'll have a proven track record of preparing and analysing financial reports, statements, and reconciliations, delivering insights that support informed decision-making. Your sharp analytical and problem-solving skills will help you navigate complex data and develop policies and procedures that drive best practice. Communication will be one of your strengths—you'll build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, fostering collaboration and achieving shared goals. You'll be highly organised, managing tasks and projects with precision to meet deadlines while delivering high-quality outcomes. Adaptability will be key, as you embrace change, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement innovative solutions to enhance processes and compliance. Familiarity with financial management systems like TechnologyOne or similar ERP software will be a definite advantage, helping you hit the ground running in this dynamic role.

Finance, Strategy and Business Intelligence (FSBI) consists of three main areas: Financial Services, Procurement and Business Intelligence. The division's vision is to lead UNE's future with courage, by embracing emerging technologies and data-driven insights, including the delivery of accurate, timely financial information to support informed decision-making across the University.
