About The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic respiratory failure team at Liverpool Hospital in a temporary full-time capacity. Job sharing will be considered for successful applicants. The successful candidate will work closely with the multidisciplinary team and with the physiotherapy department to provide high quality care to patients with acute respiratory failure and/or requiring non-invasive ventilation at Liverpool Hospital. This includes inpatient, outpatient clinic and community support.

What You'll Be Doing

The Level 4 Respiratory Failure/Non-Invasive Ventilation Physiotherapist works within the Respiratory Failure Team at Liverpool Hospital and across South West Sydney Local Health District to provide a professional, high quality and evidence-based service to patients requiring acute and long-term non-invasive ventilatory support, including patients with respiratory, neuromuscular and neurodegenerative diseases. This position will work with the respiratory clinical nurse consultant (CNC), respiratory failure Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) and the medical officer as part of the Respiratory Failure team.

This role involves the assessment, initiation, education, discharge planning and follow-up of patients requiring non-invasive ventilation (NIV), including assistance with ENABLE application process, both in clinics and in community as required.

Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, offering a wide range of state-wide services including critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care, and brain injury rehabilitation. As a key teaching facility for UNSW Sydney and Western Sydney University, it provides extensive clinical services, including emergency care, cancer treatment, paediatrics, and mental health services. The hospital features 23 operating theatres and has a capacity for 877 beds.

* Recognised degree in Physiotherapy and current Physiotherapy Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* Extensive clinical knowledge and expertise in the management of patients with complex respiratory disorders and treatments including the use of Non-Invasive Ventilation.
* Proven experience in reviewing and analysing sleep studies, lung function tests, arterial blood gases, and other relevant investigations to assess respiratory function and guide therapy.
* Demonstrated experience in providing clinical leadership, consultation, supervision and education for staff and/or students.
* Demonstrated commitment to professional development and ability to implement evidence based practice.
* Demonstrated leadership, skills and experience in the planning and implementation of quality improvement, research and service development activities.
* Demonstrated effective interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build partnerships with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
* Demonstrated effective time management skills and ability to work independently and as part of a specialist multidisciplinary team.
* Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
