Overview
An established and growing WA-based mining and civil contractor is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function across a diverse portfolio of projects and business streams. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a commercially astute professional who thrives in fast-paced operational environments and enjoys partnering closely with leadership teams, project managers, clients, and subcontractors to drive strong commercial outcomes. The role will play a critical part in supporting business growth, improving commercial governance, mitigating risk, and ensuring profitable project delivery across civil construction, earthworks, infrastructure maintenance, labour hire, and plant/equipment operations.
About the Role
Reporting directly to senior leadership, the Commercial Manager will oversee all aspects of commercial management across the business, including:
* Contract negotiation, review, and administration
* Tendering, pricing, and commercial risk assessments
* Claims, variations, EOTs, and dispute management
* Procurement and subcontractor negotiations
* Commercial governance and reporting
* Risk management and compliance
* Client and stakeholder engagement
* Quality systems and continuous improvement initiatives
Key Responsibilities
* Lead commercial management across all projects and business streams
* Review, negotiate, and administer contracts and subcontract agreements
* Manage commercial risks, claims, variations, and dispute resolution processes
* Oversee tender submissions, pricing reviews, and procurement strategies
* Support project start-up activities and commercial governance frameworks
* Provide commercial guidance to project managers and operational leaders
* Monitor project financial performance, forecasting, and margin delivery
* Maintain commercial reporting systems, risk registers, and compliance frameworks
* Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
* Drive continuous improvement across commercial systems and processes
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
* Proven commercial management experience within mining, civil construction, earthworks, infrastructure, or heavy industry sectors
* Strong contract negotiation and administration capability
* Experience managing variations, EOTs, claims, and commercial disputes
* Advanced financial, analytical, and commercial acumen
* Strong understanding of project delivery and operational environments
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
* Experience supporting tenders, procurement, and commercial risk reviews
* High attention to detail with strong organisational capability
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, commerce, law, or a related discipline
