These roles will be offered as initially **6 month labour-hire contracts **OR **S26 permanent transfers**.
The APS 6 role can be based in any major city nationally, with the EL1 role being Canberra based. Flexibility to work from home 2 days per week. Australian citizenship and a baseline clearance or the ability to obtain a baseline clearance essential.
**APS 6 - Senior Officer**
Under limited direction, the Senior Officer - International Engagement will support work on cross-cutting international issues bringing together CED activities and ensuring alignment to departmental strategies.
**Key Duties may include:
- **
- managing the CED International Engagement mailbox from enquiry through to response and filing
- maintaining CED international travel process instructional material
- updating the CED travel register ensuring key activities are recorded in the departmental international engagement calendar hosted on MyGov
- providing high-level advice on international travel processes that are well researched and supported by departmental policies and procedures
- triaging international travel proposals, including assessing priorities, reviewing and quality assuring requests, prior to submission to the relevant delegate.
- collating all post visit reports to enable timely briefings to the Executive on offshore activities
- identifying efficiencies and streamlining business management systems and processes, where possible to deliver best practices approaches within the division
- managing relationships with stakeholders to achieve work area and divisional goals
- experience in administration and/or governance.
- background or experience in QBT or Whole of Government authorised travel policy and procedures
- experience providing advice across all levels on issues and working with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate resolutions.

**EL1 - Assistant Director**
The key focus of this role is to identify and lead work on cross-cutting international issues bringing together CED activities and ensuring alignment to departmental strategies.
**Duties** of the position may include, but are not limited to:
- Provide advice to staff across the division on cross-cutting / whole of government international issues, ensuring a consistent approach
- develop strategic products for a range of audiences to shape and communicate the divisions international engagement priorities and processes
- prepare advice, briefing and other written material for senior executive on CED international activities
- identify risks and uncertainties, anticipate needs and expectations of stakeholders and tailoring communication as required, to provide guidance and mitigation strategies to support offshore activities
- work collaboratively across the department, the Australian Government and overseas governments / entities to achieve divisional goals
- oversee the management of international travel proposals, including assessing priorities, developing (where applicable), analysing, reviewing and quality assuring requests, prior to submission to the relevant delegate
- identify efficiencies and streamlining business management systems and processes, where possible to deliver best practices approaches within the division
- experience in administration and/or governance
- experience in Whole of Government authorised travel policy and procedures
- experience in working in an international engagement role including preparing advice, briefing material and reporting
