Role Overview
The Therapeutic Residential Care Worker engages with children and young people to develop a nurturing, positive relationship. The role assists each child in managing trauma-based responses, promoting healing, emotional growth, and the development of positive attitudes and life skills.
Responsibilities
* Provide therapeutic support to Aboriginal children, addressing pain-based behaviours and recognising the impact of trauma and disrupted attachment.
* Practice household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, and transporting children.
* Write clear case notes, incident reports, and other documentation on the children as required.
* Collaborate with the VACCA team to support children's emotional, physical, psychological, and cultural development.
About You
* Understanding of and commitment to VACCA's values that underpin our vision and purpose.
* A relevant qualification in line with Residential Care minimum standards.
* First Aid and CPR certification.
* Demonstrated ability to work, collaborate, and contribute to Aboriginal children with a range of complex and diverse needs.
* Ability to respond therapeutically to children's pain-based behaviours.
* Capability to manage household tasks including cooking, cleaning, and transporting children.
* Well‐developed written and oral communication skills for writing case notes and reports.
* Valid Police Check and Victorian Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID‐19 vaccination recommended.
