It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991****About Us?**The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.The Regional and Specialist team includes Integrated Specialist Services, Mental Health and Wellbeing Services, Primary Healthcare Services, Birthing and Early Childhood Services (South), and Child and Youth Services. Our purpose is to connect, guide, and empower teams and communities through culturally safe, transparent, and responsive ways.**About the Role?**As Community Family Support Practitioner – BECS South, your role works with the Community Child and Family Health Practitioner to provide a comprehensive home visiting service to women pregnant with an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander baby. The Community Family Support Practitioner contributes to the provision of cultural support within the community and the maintenance of culturally safe visits to participating women and their families. This position supports the Community Child and Family Health team on a broad range of cultural issues and liaises with clients, families and community members. The Cultural Support Worker is responsible for maintaining high level standards of community practice in the community and adhering to IUIH policies and guidelines.Your day-to-day duties will include:* Build and maintain relationships based on trust, support and growth with eligible women, their families, team colleagues and community members.* Facilitate culturally respectful home visits and support for women and families eligible to participate in the service* Plan and perform home visits in accordance with the client's stated goals, and in-line with IUIH Ways.* Participate in community engagement activities and promote the BECS services within the local community to support the development of client referral pathways.* Accurately document client files with all important and relevant information related to engagement with women and families.**About You?****To perform this role, it is essential that the incumbent is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person.
