IPS Management Consultants is seeking a proactive and motivated Assistant Project Manager to join our consulting team. The Opportunity
As an Assistant Project Manager, you will work closely with Senior Consultants and Project Managers to support the planning, coordination, and delivery of consulting and infrastructure-related projects. This includes embedded support at HMAS Stirling and the RPS Perth office at 500 Hay Street, Subiaco .
You will be part of a collaborative team environment, contributing to project documentation, stakeholder engagement, reporting, and risk management. The role suits someone who is highly organised, detail-oriented, and eager to develop their career in project management or consulting.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
* Support the planning, scheduling, and coordination of project activities.
* Prepare accurate documentation including agendas, minutes, reports, letters, presentations, and registers.
* Track progress against milestones, risks, and deliverables.
* Assist with research, analysis, and quality assurance across project outputs.
* Maintain orderly project records and ensure compliance with systems and processes.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
* Communicate proactively and professionally with clients and partners.
* Support relationship building by understanding project needs from the client's perspective.
* Represent IPS and RPS with professionalism, including preparing and delivering presentations where required.
* Work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Share knowledge, contribute ideas, and support collaborative delivery.
* Demonstrate initiative, adaptability, and a strong commitment to team success.
Safety & Compliance
* Follow all RPS and IPS Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies and directives.
* Participate in required safety training and report hazards or incidents promptly.
* Stop work if conditions become unsafe and escape as appropriate.
* Escalate as appropriate.
What We're Looking For
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified role
* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
* Familiarity with MS Project or willingness to learn.
* High level of attention to detail and accuracy in all outputs.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain organisation under pressure.
* Understanding of project coordination principles and structured workflows.
Education and Experience
* Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Construction, Business, Engineering, Social Sciences, or related fields are highly regarded but not essential.
* Experience in project coordination, administration, consulting, or similar roles is desirable.
* Exposure to defence, infrastructure, or complex project environments is beneficial.
Requirements
* Eligibility to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance .
* Willingness to undertake background checks, including a national police clearance.
