Job Title: Nursing Support Worker
Salary range: $79,500 - $85,000 - depending on skills level and work experience + superannuation.

About the Role
On behalf of our client, an independent, not-for-profit aged care provider known as "the heart of country care," we are seeking a dedicated Nursing Support Worker. Our client proudly supports older South Australians in regional communities with safe, caring, and inclusive living environments across residential aged care, retirement living, and home care options. They are passionate about developing respectful, warm, and genuine relationships with residents and their loved ones, ensuring everyone is valued and everyone matters. We are looking for a nursing support worker who will help deliver quality care through mutual respect in a caring, country environment.

Key Duties (paraphrased & detailed)
Clinical & Personal Care Support
• Assist residents with daily living activities including personal hygiene (bathing, dressing, grooming), mobility support (transfers, walking), and meal assistance (feeding, hydration), while actively promoting independence and dignity.
• Measure and record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature), weight, and fluid intake/output as directed by nursing staff, reporting any abnormalities promptly.

Medication & Wound Care Assistance
• Support medication management by reminding residents to take their medications and assisting with administration under registered nurse supervision, following strict protocols.
• Assist with basic wound care, applying clean dressings, observing for signs of infection or changes, and reporting any concerns to nursing staff immediately.

Therapy & Rehabilitation Assistance
• Implement prescribed therapy plans including gentle range-of-motion exercises, mobility support, and fall prevention activities, encouraging resident participation.
• Assist occupational therapists and physiotherapists during treatment sessions, helping residents with prescribed exercises and using equipment correctly.

Dementia Support & Behaviour Management
• Support residents living with dementia by implementing individualised behaviour management strategies, using calm, reassuring communication techniques.
• Create a safe, familiar environment by following person-centred approaches that reduce distress and promote engagement.

Documentation & Reporting
• Maintain accurate electronic and paper records of all care provided, including daily notes, care observations, and fluid/food charts.
• Document changes in resident conditions, behaviours, or care needs, and complete incident reports and risk assessments when required.

Resident Wellbeing, Rights & Advocacy
• Provide emotional support through active listening and meaningful conversation, building respectful, warm relationships with residents and their families.
• Encourage resident participation in social activities and community programs, advocate for resident rights and preferences in all care decisions, upholding their choice and privacy.

Safety, Infection Control & Compliance
• Follow infection control protocols including proper hand hygiene, PPE use, and environmental cleaning to protect vulnerable residents.
• Assist with manual handling using correct equipment (hoists, slide sheets) and techniques, and promptly report maintenance issues, hazards, or near misses.

Skills & Experience Required

* Certificate III in Aged Care, Individual Support, or equivalent qualification.
* Minimum 1 year full-time experience in aged care or disability support (residential setting preferred).
* Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (issued within last 5 years) – preferable.
* Up-to-date flu vaccination and full COVID-19 immunisation.
* Reliable own transport and valid driver's licence.
