RCH is a cornerstone member of the Melbourne Children's Campus, partnering with Murdoch Children's Research Institute, The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics and The Royal Children's Hospital Foundation.
RCH has cared for the children and young people of Victoria for more than 150 years since it was founded in 1870. A full range of paediatrics and adolescent health services are provided plus tertiary and quaternary care for the most critically ill and medically complex patients in Victoria, Tasmania, southern NSW and other states around Australia and overseas. The Hospital has more than 6,000 staff, a budget of $850M, 12 wards and 350 beds. Annually, the RCH has 300,000+ Specialist Clinic appointments, 90,000+ Emergency Department presentations and 20,000 elective surgeries.

Mental Health Graduate Nurse Program (MHGNP) 2027:
Our Mental Health Graduate Nurse Program aims to facilitate your transition from a newly graduated Registered Nurse to a competent and confident registered Mental Health Nurse through ongoing learning and development in a safe and supportive environment.
The program is designed to promote:
* Person-centred, trauma-informed, and recovery-focused mental health care
* Competence in child and adolescent mental health nursing practice
* Engagement in critical questioning and reflective practice
* Integration into effective multidisciplinary team working
Our programs will include:
* 3‐week supernumerary orientation period
* Allocated preceptor
* Quarterly in‐service mental health study days
* In‐service education for staff most days
* Study leave entitlement as per EBA
* Dedicated Clinical Nurse Educator
* Group clinical supervision
* Monthly support meetings
* Competency framework to support mental health knowledge and skill acquisition
Mental Health Graduate Nurse Program:
* 12‐month rotation on Banksia (Adolescent Mental Health Unit)
Combined Mental Health Nurse Program:
* 6‐month rotation on Banksia Unit (Adolescent Mental Health Unit)
* 6‐month rotation on Kelpie (Adolescent Medical Unit)
Selection criteria: Completion of the Mental Health Graduate Nurse Application Form, resume, academic transcripts, appraisals and relevant documentation as required for assessment. Applicants must be a registered nurse and meet the specific role requirements.
