Inspire Hope and Connection—Pastoral Care Volunteer Role, Bathurst NSW
Bathurst, Australia | Posted on 05/27/2026
HammondCare pastoral care volunteers have an opportunity to support the spiritual and emotional needs of elderly clients living in their homes. As a pastoral care volunteer, you'll be actively involved with a local Christian church.
We're seeking a compassionate pastoral care volunteer to provide weekly one hour visits with a lovely lady who values her faith deeply. She would enjoy gentle conversation, shared reflection, and the comfort of spiritual companionship. Your visits could include talking about faith, reading together, or simply offering a kind and listening presence. If you feel called to support someone through connection and faith, we'd love to hear from you—your time could bring comfort, peace, and a true sense of blessing each week.
You'll supplement and complement the work of our HammondCare At Home Pastoral Care Coordinator, and under their direction you may:
* Support people to meet their spiritual needs
Skills required for this role:
* High level of interpersonal skills, including strong empathy and listening skills.
* Pastoral Care training (e.g., Chaplaincy, Clinical Pastoral Education) or you could attend HammondCare pastoral care training – Spiritual Care Series, in preparation to becoming a pastoral care volunteer.
Volunteering alongside Pastoral Care can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.
Requirements
* 18 years or older
* National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare
* Suitable one-hour visits between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday, can be weekly to fortnightly depending on availability.
