We invite you to join us as we continue to explore and create better ways to educate, grounded in Christian values for life.Description:The Chaplain role is to support Narnia staff through pastoral means. To be a stable, supportive person who can provide prayer, referrals, and care. To build relationships, foster community, and support staff wellbeing. This includes but is not limited to:Providing pastoral care to staff of each Early Learning CentreBuilding relationships intentionally with staffUpholding and supporting the philosophy, mission, core values, vision, policies, and aims of Narnia Early Learning and the wider St Philip’s organisationVisiting each centre once a term, with additional visits as required by the Executive DirectorWorking in a safe, confidential, and supportive mannerCreating or sourcing documents on key support areasCompleting designated administrative tasksProviding information on external support services to staffSupporting/enhancing a positive workplace cultureSending at least monthly devotionals, links, or written communication to all Narnia staffProviding a termly report to the Executive Director of Narnia Early LearningAttending extra staff development days and eventsIn respect of the Mission:Upholding the vision of the CentreSupporting Biblical valuesTeaching Biblical truthsIn respect of Personal Faith:Being an active member of a Christian churchSeeking regular Christian teaching and fellowshipPraying regularlyHandling Narnia matters with confidentialityDisplaying the fruit of the Spirit as described in Galatians 5:22-23Participating in regular staff evaluations focusing on personal, spiritual, and professional developmentIn respect of Professional Conduct and Learning:Working within the Code of Conduct, policies, and proceduresParticipating in performance appraisalsEngaging in reflective practice and ongoing professional learningUndertaking Child Protection training periodicallyIn respect of Organisational Staff Representation and Narnia:Supporting the organisation’s philosophy, policies, and proceduresPositively representing the organisation externallyUpholding the College’s vision, mission, core values, and beliefsWorking individually and collaborativelyUpholding and implementing all centre policies and proceduresMaintaining confidentialityIn respect of Workplace Health and Safety:Working safely to avoid risksEnsuring a safe and healthy work environmentAddressing safety issues promptlyFollowing child protection and safe standards policiesInforming supervisors of any allegations or convictions related to child protectionEnsuring compliance as a mandated reporterPlease read the Narnia Right to Disconnect Policy and discuss expectations with your Executive Director.Essential Skills:Minimum Cert IV in Chaplaincy and Pastoral CareA strong foundation and ongoing commitment to the Christian faithEffective written and oral communication skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamRequirements:Current Working with Children CheckCurrent Police CheckOwn transportSkills and Experiences:Degree in TheologyPrevious experience in ministry or pastoral rolesWe’ll partner with you along the way:No job description can fully capture the complexity of working within an Early Learning Centre. This role may include other duties as required by the Executive Director of Narnia Early Learning. This is a part-time position starting in early 2025, with current hours from Monday 7:30 am to 2 pm.Note: All Narnia employees are responsible for ensuring a workplace free from sexual harassment and must adhere to Child Safe Standards and work health safety standards.
