Job Description
Downer is seeking an experienced Asphalt Surfacing Manager based in Lismore, NSW. In this pivotal leadership role you will be responsible for driving operational excellence, financial performance and sustainable growth across our asphalt and surfacing business.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Drive business performance, including P&L accountability and budget delivery.
* Identify and secure new business opportunities and profitable growth pathways.
* Oversee tendering, contract management, and project delivery.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and key stakeholders.
* Lead, coach, and develop a team to achieve operational and strategic objectives.
* Develop and execute short‐to‐mid‐term business plans.
* Lead and champion a Zero Harm safety culture across all operations.
ABOUT YOU
* Degree in Civil Engineering (preferred) or Diploma of Civil Construction / Business, or equivalent proven experience.
* Approximately 10+ years' experience in asphalt surfacing or civil road construction projects.
* Proven ability to manage budgets, drive profitability, and deliver projects to schedule.
* Strong stakeholder engagement and business development capability.
* Solid understanding of contract management, risk, and compliance frameworks.
* A demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop high‐performing teams.
* Sound knowledge of WHS, quality, and environmental management systems.
