The Aboriginal Engagement and Native Title Directorate aims to elevate the Aboriginal Affairs portfolio and drive systemic change across Government, with an objective to improve the economic prosperity and wellbeing of Aboriginal people and communities in Western Australia.
Our values are embodied in the Directorate's work in the Western Australian Government's response and implementation of the National Agreement on Closing the Gap; its relationship with the Aboriginal Advisory Council of Western Australia and in the development of whole-of-government policy including the Aboriginal Empowerment Strategy and Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisation (ACCO) Strategy.
We also provide a timely and relevant policy advice and embed strategic frameworks that facilitate a whole of government approach in engaging with Aboriginal people and communities.
About the Role
The Assistant Director is required to coordinate and support the Western Australian Government's response and implementation of the National Agreement on Closing the Gap. This is achieved by leading a team of specialists in the provision of high-level policy support and advice, and by working and influencing from a cross-portfolio perspective on identified socio‐economic targets and priority reforms. The position also involves developing, leading, and implementing projects, research, and data analysis to achieve the Western Australian response to Closing the Gap. In doing so, the Assistant Director will collaborate both across Government and with community in a culturally appropriate manner.
Qualifications and Requirements
* A written application demonstrating how you meet the Work-Related Capabilities (Selection Criteria) as detailed in the attached JDF. It should be no more than 2 pages.
* Shortlisted applicants will undergo referee checks.
* To be eligible for fixed-term appointment you must have a current visa that allows you to work for the required term and hours of the contract.
* Proof of identity (100-point check).
* A satisfactory National Police Certificate issued by the Western Australian Police Force that is less than two months from the date of issue.
