Multiple roles available.Important information for applicantsThis is a Category A position. Recommended applicants will be reviewed for compliance with NSW Health policy directive PD2024_015: Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases for Category A positions prior to offer. All new and existing employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in the policy.Working week will consist of 1,2 or 3 x 12-hour shiftsShift penalties will apply where required.About the roleThe role is integral in the safety and security of staff, patients and visitors who attend the ED. As well provide support for patients, cleaning and restocking areas of the department is required. You will work closely with the nursing and medical staff who work in the unit, as well as hospital Security.The HaSA In The ED Has 2 Primary FunctionsSecurityProvide security, safety and protection of all staff, patients and visitors to the unit and if necessary in conjunction with Campus Security Services. Respond to and provide assistance to staff, patients or visitors that may be confronted by a hostile or aggressive person under the direction of the nurse in charge, including the use of approved physical restraint techniques.Ward DutiesThe position is a critical component of the team and it is envisaged that it will support the nurses activities with patients as well as acting independently when required. This includes but is not limited to organising serving of patient’s meals and drinks for patients, cleaning and making of beds, assisting and maintaining a clean environment, assisting patients with personal hygiene needs as appropriate and when requested by the Nurse in Charge and assisting with the care of deceased patients and their transfer to the morgue.Where you'll be workingSutherland Hospital Emergency Department, where you will be based, sees approximately 65,000 patients per year, with a wide variety of clinical presentations.Learn more about Sutherland Hospital here.
