Permanent full‐time position commencing ASAP within the Western Australian Government.
Overview
Schools deliver education to students; Participation Coordinators provide outreach and case‐brokerage services to disengaged or at‐risk compulsory school‐aged students, working with schools, TAFE, private training, support services, government and non‐government agencies and employers to broker placements and appropriate pathway options.
Roles and Responsibilities
* Manage an assigned caseload within the relevant Education Region.
* Provide individualized case‐brokerage and face‐to‐face outreach support to compulsory school‐aged students, primarily senior secondary.
* Advocate for students to access appropriate support services, aiming to improve outcomes related to transitions and re‐engagement into approved options.
* Review referrals and undertake assessment of individual students' needs to optimise engagement in educational, training and employment pathways.
* Maintain regular travel by car for in‐person contact with students' homes, support services, providers and employers.
Qualifications & Experience
* Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
* Current 'C' class driver's licence.
* Ability to undertake travel, including overnight stays in non‐metropolitan locations and travel in small aeroplanes to remote locations, as required.
* Current Working with Children Check.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience of youth, education and training services, particularly for at‐risk compulsory school‐aged students.
* Well‐developed conceptual, analytical, written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
* Ability to develop and maintain relevant professional networks and negotiate successful outcomes.
* Organisational skills with initiative to meet competing priorities.
