Access Canberra is seeking an experienced regulatory leader who can guide the Canberra Environment, Land and Technical Regulation branch to deliver regulatory outcomes that support a safe and liveable city.

Within this branch, you will support and lead The Office of the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) team within Access Canberra, overseeing daily operations and delivering high-quality regulatory outcomes aligned withthe Environment Protection Act 1997.

Reporting to an Executive Branch Manager, the role involves strategic advice, cross-government collaboration - including with NSW and the Health Protection Service - and engagement with stakeholders to strengthen environmental compliance and public understanding.

The Senior Director also contributes to Access Canberra's leadership, supports continuous improvement, and may represent the EPA in media communications.

Eligibility/Other requirements:

* Proven leadership of a proactive, agile, and flexible multi-disciplinary team in a dynamic regulatory environment, managing competing priorities and tight deadlines.
* Strong understanding of ACT environmental protection legislation and policy, with the ability to deliver positive outcomes through education, prevention, and enforcement.
* Advanced research and analytical skills, with a solutions-focused approach to complex and sensitive issues, providing sound judgment and balanced advice.
* Demonstrated ability to navigate government processes (e.g. Cabinet, statutory briefings, reporting, procurement) to develop regulatory settings and ensure public accountability.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage across all levels and represent Access Canberra in diverse settings.

Notes: This is a temporary position available from 24 November 2025 to 31 March 2026.

A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.

Opportunities for flexible working options could include hybrid working, being a combination of working from home, designated office based and FlexiSpace working locations across the ACT, part-time hours, job-sharing, flexible start, and finish times.
