Nyrstar Hobart is a large‐scale zinc smelter located on Hobart's River Derwent, only a few kilometres from the Tasmanian capital's charming and cosmopolitan city centre.
About the Role
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Contractor Coordinator Team Leader to join our Asset Management Department. Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, you will ensure projects are delivered on scope, on budget, and in compliance with safety, environmental, and legislative standards. You will optimize contractor performance to minimize downtime, boost equipment availability, and drive maintenance success while ensuring quality and value for money.
Key Duties and Accountabilities
* Provide leadership in your area of responsibility to effectively manage the safety and wellbeing of contractors.
* Define and deliver effective work scopes within monthly budget targets.
* Ensure compliance with Nyrstar policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
* Manage contractor performance and report on key KPIs.
* Identify and address training shortfalls for contractors.
* Evaluate whether work can be completed internally before outsourcing.
* Oversee all aspects of contractor management, including dispute resolution, cost control and resource planning.
Qualifications
* Relevant trade qualification (desirable).
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence and network.
* Prepared to participate in site‐wide maintenance activities.
* Demonstrated ability to plan and lead effective tasks and projects.
* Ability to work within tight timeframes and complex situations.
* Creative thinking to develop innovative solutions.
* Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel.
* SAP experience highly regarded.
