The Opportunity
As Engineering Manager, you'll lead talented PHP and Java development teams, guiding the delivery of products that form the backbone of the company's payment platform. This is a hands‑on leadership role, blending people management, technical oversight, and delivery ownership, suited to someone who thrives in a fast‑paced, product‑led environment.
You'll work closely with senior engineers, product managers, and stakeholders across the business to translate the technology roadmap into results, ensuring quality, scalability, and reliability across all deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, mentor, and coach high‑performing PHP and Java engineering teams.
* Translate the product and technology roadmap into actionable delivery plans.
* Oversee the end‑to‑end software lifecycle, from design and development through to deployment and post‑release support.
* Provide architectural guidance and uphold engineering best practices across security, code quality, and testing.
* Collaborate cross‑functionally with Product, QA, DevOps, and Security teams to streamline delivery.
* Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, tooling, and delivery velocity.
* Champion a culture of collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence.
What You'll Bring
* Proven experience managing teams delivering PHP and Java applications .
* Hands‑on technical background with PHP frameworks and Java/Spring Boot .
* Strong understanding of web architecture, APIs, and enterprise integrations .
* Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes), and AWS or similar cloud environments.
* Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
* 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 2–3 years in a leadership role.
* Experience delivering complex software projects in an agile environment.
