About Us
Jalan Jalan Eats is a newly established restaurant in Ballarat, dedicated to bringing the authentic flavours of Malaysia to regional Victoria.
We take pride in serving a diverse range of Malaysian dishes inspired by Malay, Chinese, and Indian heritage.
We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Chef who can lead our kitchen operations and contribute to shaping a distinctive Malaysian dining experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and present authentic Malaysian dishes to a consistently high standard
* Develop, plan, and update menus that showcase traditional and modern Malaysian cuisine
* Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, stock control, and hygiene standards
* Maintain compliance with all food safety and cleanliness regulations
* Supervise and mentor kitchen staff in food preparation and service standards
* Work closely with management to ensure smooth kitchen operation and customer satisfaction
Skills and Experience
* Minimum 5 years' experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen
* Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (minimum required)
* Certificate IV and/or Diploma in Commercial Cookery (preferred)
* Proven expertise in preparing Malaysian cuisine (Malay, Chinese, and Indian styles)
* Strong organisational and time management skills
* Excellent teamwork and communication abilities
* Willingness to work on weekends and evenings as required
