Who are we?

Standards Australia (SA) is the peak standards development organisation in Australia, with a rich history that dates back to 1922. Currently, we are undergoing a significant transformation and growth phase. In recent years, our workforce has doubled, and we now proudly employ over 200 professionals dedicated to helping shape Australia's future and fulfilling our mission of empowering communities.

Our organisation brings experts together to create national and international standards that serve as essential guidelines for products and services, ultimately benefiting the Australian community. Our vision is to be a global leader in providing trusted solutions that improve life today and tomorrow.

About the role

We are seeking a Payroll & Accounts Receivable Officer to join our Finance team on a 7-month maternity leave contract. This role plays a critical function in ensuring payroll accuracy, compliance, and oversight, while also owning the end‐to‐end Accounts Receivable (AR) process. While the role is 70% AR and 30% payroll, payroll is the most critical component, requiring strong attention to detail, confidence in validating outsourced payroll, and a solid understanding of payroll compliance and legislation.

You will work closely with the Senior Finance Manager and broader finance team, supporting a business currently going through system and process improvements, with key systems including Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) and Employment Hero.

What You'll Do

Payroll (Critical Focus – Oversight & Accuracy)

* Review and validate outsourced payroll via Employment Hero
* Ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and adherence to regulations
* Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies
* Support fortnightly payroll cycles (approx. 250–300 employees)
* Contribute to improving payroll processes and controls

Accounts Receivable (End‐to‐End Ownership)

* Manage the full AR lifecycle (quote to cash)
* Process invoicing and credit notes
* Perform bank and AR reconciliations
* Manage customer queries and billing investigations
* Maintain accurate customer records within D365
* Monitor aged debt and support collections activities

Systems & Process Improvement

* Work within a team transitioning to current systems and processes
* Support ongoing improvements across AR and payroll workflows
* Assist with system issue resolution and data accuracy

You Will Bring

* Proven payroll experience with strong understanding of compliance and payroll processes
* 5+ years' experience in Accounts Receivable, managing end‐to‐end AR
* Experience working with ERP systems (ideally Microsoft Dynamics 365)
* Exposure to Employment Hero or similar outsourced payroll platforms
* Strong reconciliation and problem‐solving skills
* Ability to investigate and resolve system or process issues
* Confidence working in a changing environment with evolving processes
* Strong communication skills and ability to engage with stakeholders

Nice to Have

* Experience supporting system implementations or ERP transitions
* Background working in a high‐volume environment
* Advanced Excel skills
