About The Role
Reporting to the Principal Engineer, you will coordinate and execute complex electrical assignments, providing high‐quality primary design and engineering solutions for substation projects across Australia.
Key Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited
* Lead end‐to‐end HV/EHV substation design (66 kV–500 kV), including layouts, elevations and details including short circuit forces, specifications for fittings and clearances drawings.
* Design underground electrical services, including HV cables and pit/conduit arrangements for LV, control and protection.
* Earthing and lightning protection designs using CDEGS & SES Shield 3D.
* Insulation coordination & Transient Recovery Voltage (TRV) studies.
* Lighting design.
* Complete technical datasheets for primary equipment and perform technical reviews.
* Utilise industry‐standard electrical engineering software for analysis, modelling, and design.
* Collaborate with contractors, suppliers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure practical and efficient project delivery.
* Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and quality assurance to maintain high safety and engineering standards.
About You
While you'll have support from your manager, you'll be confident working autonomously and taking ownership of your work. You will also demonstrate the following skills and qualities:
* Bachelor of Electrical Engineering
* Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) accreditation with Engineers Australia, or currently working towards accreditation.
* 8+ years of experience in substation and/or similar projects within the electricity distribution industry.
* Demonstrated ability to coordinate and execute complex electrical assignments, including modifying established guides or devising new approaches where necessary.
* Proficiency in PSCAD/EMTP, CYMCAP, CDEGS, SESShield‐3D.
* Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Suite Apps (Word, Excel, Outlook, Windows).
