Senior Network Engineer – Carrier & Service Provider Networks
What You'll Be Doing
* Design, deploy, and optimize large‐scale IP/MPLS networks, including core, aggregation, and edge layers.
* Lead engineering initiatives across BGP, OSPF/IS‐IS, LDP/SR, and EVPN/VXLAN architectures.
* Maintain and improve Layer 2/3 transport, peering, and subscriber management infrastructures.
* Develop automation and monitoring solutions using Python, Ansible, APIs, and telemetry tools.
* Plan network capacity and scalability to align with traffic growth and evolving requirements.
* Troubleshoot complex routing, forwarding, and transport issues, collaborating with operations and architecture teams.
* Contribute to vendor assessments, network migrations, and documentation of standards and best practices.
Who You Are
* 7+ years of hands‐on experience in service provider, carrier, or large‐scale network environments. Australian citizenship is mandatory for the role.
* Strong operational expertise in BGP, IS‐IS/OSPF, MPLS (LDP/RSVP/SR), EVPN/VXLAN, and QoS.
* Experienced with Juniper (MX, QFX, ACX), Cisco (NCS, ASR), or Nokia (SR) platforms.
* Skilled in traffic engineering, route reflectors, L3VPN/L2VPN (VPLS, VPWS), GRE, and tunnelling architectures.
* Solid understanding of IPv6 deployment, network policy, and monitoring systems (SNMP, telemetry, Splunk, Grafana).
* Excellent documentation, communication, and collaborative skills.
Nice to Have
* Experience with SDN controllers such as Cisco NSO.
* Automation and scripting skills (Python, Netconf/YANG).
* Knowledge of optical transport, DWDM, or segment routing.
* Familiarity with datacenter architectures and technologies.
* Relevant certifications (JNCIP‐SP, JNCIE‐SP, CCNP/CCIE‐SP or equivalent).
* Flexibility to travel up to 15% of the time.
