Vacancy Overview

Permanent Part‐time (0.8 FTE, 60 hrs fortnight). The role will be full‐time (1.0 FTE, 75 hrs fortnight) for the first 12 months, with potential for ongoing full‐time hours. A 12‐month pool will also run.

About the Museum of the Goldfields

Located in the historic town of Kalgoorlie‐Boulder, the Museum of the Goldfields showcases the rich social, cultural and environmental history of the Goldfields region. The site engages local communities and visitors through exhibitions, public programmes and events celebrating Aboriginal culture, mining heritage and regional stories.

About the role

The Operations Manager provides leadership and direction for the day‐to‐day operations of the Museum of the Goldfields, ensuring the effective management of human, financial and physical resources. The role supports the site's Regional Manager and acts as the key delegate in their absence, contributing to operational leadership, decision‐making and the achievement of strategic and service delivery outcomes.

About you

We are looking for a dynamic, motivated, detail‐oriented leader who enjoys a fast‐paced environment and is passionate about delivering high‐quality visitor experiences. You will be confident using computer systems, including Microsoft Office, and demonstrate well‐developed organisational and project management skills. You will also have strong attention to detail, sound judgement and a commitment to excellence, aligned with the WA Museum's values of collaboration, community engagement, knowledge sharing and cultural impact.

Responsibilities

* Manage daily Visitor Services operations through effective leadership, resource management and operational planning.
* Deliver and support exhibitions, public and education programmes, events and outreach activities.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, community groups and visitors.
* Contribute to operational planning, site projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Eligibility

* Valid Work Visa (fixed‐term appointments) or Australian citizen, permanent resident or indefinite‐stay visa (permanent appointments).
* Current (within six months) National Police Clearance Certificate required prior to employment.
* Current WA 'C' driver's licence required.

Pool Recruitment

The 12‐month pool will open after the standard claim period closes. Permanent, fixed‐term, full‐time or part‐time appointments may be offered as vacancies arise; an appointment is not guaranteed.
