About the WesTrac Apprenticeship Program
Launch your career with WesTrac and earn while you learn. Complete a 4- or 5-year apprenticeship (dual trade), gaining a nationally recognised trade qualification while working on Caterpillar equipment and the latest technology.
You'll build strong hands‐on skills while training in modern facilities and workshops with expert support. Based in Tomago this program sets you up for long‐term career growth—from technical roles to leadership and beyond.
As a WesTrac Apprentice, you will learn how to:
* Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
* Inspect a vast range of Caterpillar Mobile Plant equipment parts and components
* Operate welding equipment
* Perform a range of welding techniques such as MIG, TIG and arc
* Weld parts for machine rebuilds
* Fabricate parts and attachments for new machine builds
* Safely operate workshop equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes and tools
* Maintain a safe working environment
* Navigate Caterpillar systems to ensure all work is done in accordance with Caterpillar's quality standard
About you:
* Must be 16 years or older by December 2026
* Australian working rights (Citizen or Permanent Resident)
* Strong communication, reading and writing skills
* Genuine interest in mechanical trades, machinery or hands‐on learning
* Driver's licence and reliable transport (or close to obtaining one) with ability to travel to work and training
* Honest, reliable and dependable
* Team‐oriented with a positive attitude

Successful applicants will be required to complete a satisfactory National Criminal History Check and a Pre‐Employment Medical as part of the Recruitment Process.
