Your Role
As the Aboriginal Torres Strait Island Liaison Officer you will work with students, families, schools and the wider community to improve education outcomes for students.
The Aboriginal Torres Strait Island Liaison Officer role includes
Engaging and providing direct support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and families at risk of disengaging or disengaged from education through working in partnership with communities, stakeholders and government agencies.
Act as conduit between family and regional teams, identify barriers to education engagement and co-design appropriate responses to support students and their families.
Working within a team based, case management approach as a contact for students, families or community members regarding educational engagement.
Provide ongoing support to students and families using a cultural lens over transitions re-engaging students with mainstream, alternative education or pathway options negotiated by regional teams.

The ability to work independently and part of a team, who is a self-starter and demonstrates initiative in their work.
Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable children and young people.
Strength in building and sustaining positive working relationships with students, parents and community agencies.
Demonstrated or transferrable skills necessary to reconnect young people and families with education and support school engagement.
