The Opportunity
This is not a corporate, desk-bound GM role.
It is a hands‑on leadership opportunity for a practical operating leader who can help transition from a founder‑led coordination into a more structured, accountable and scalable business model — while protecting the culture, relationships and practical strengths that made the business successful in the first place.
What matters most is your ability to lead people, drive accountability, improve operational discipline and ensure the business scales properly.
Key Focus Areas
* Establish clear operating rhythm, reporting cadence and leadership accountability
* Improve workflow consistency across quoting, delivery, scheduling, invoicing and close‑out
* Drive commercial performance visibility (margin, labour productivity, WIP, job profitability)
* Strengthen leadership capability and accountability across managers and teams
* Improve systems adoption, communication and cross‑functional coordination
* Reduce operational bottlenecks and reliance on the Director for day‑to‑day decisions
* Support scalable growth and a more structured operating model
About You
You are practical, commercially sharp and highly credible with both field and office teams.
You understand how growing operational businesses work — particularly founder‑led, trade‑based or project‑driven environments — and you know how to improve structure and accountability without overcomplicating things.
You lead with both warmth and backbone.
Key Requirements
* Demonstrated experience in senior operational leadership, general management or equivalent business leadership roles
* Strong commercial capability, including responsibility for budgets, margins, productivity, reporting and performance outcomes
* Track record of improving systems, workflows, communication and cross‑functional coordination
* Electrical, industrial, manufacturing or engineering experience, highly regarded, but not essential
* Experience in a founder‑led or family‑owned business is advantageous
