About the role

The Occupational Therapist will provide high-quality community-based therapy for children aged 0-4 years with developmental delays and disorders. Working within a multidisciplinary team, they will conduct assessments, manage caseloads, collaborate with families and agencies, and contribute to professional development and service improvement.

Key duties of the role

* Provide comprehensive assessments, therapy, and management for children with developmental delays, ensuring coordinated care with multidisciplinary teams.
* Use professional judgment to consult with team members, other agencies, and community groups to develop and implement effective client management programs.
* Offer supervised placements for students and deliver relevant education sessions to colleagues, students, and community groups.
* Promote a supportive, safe work culture, addressing concerns constructively and maintaining effective communication within the team.
* Ensure high standards of professional conduct, adhere to the organization's core values, and complete ongoing professional development in line with AHPRA requirements.

Skills and Experience

* Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification, which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
* Demonstrated ability to relate well to, work with and support children of birth to preschool entry and their families from various cultures and backgrounds, often in complex vulnerable families.
* Experience with assessment and treatment of children aged 0-4 years, ideally in a community-based setting.
* Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, implement and evaluate community oriented, holistic therapeutic interventions appropriate for children and their families.
* Knowledge on when to refer onto other health professionals, in order to best support both the child and their family.
