Senior Director of Global Employment and Labour Law, JAPAC
We are seeking an exceptional leader who will join the global employment legal team to lead a team of lawyers and compliance professionals covering the JAPAC region (India, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Australia, and New Zealand) to provide world‑class employment law support to the Human Resources organization, the business, and other stakeholders.
The position reports to the SVP & Associate General Counsel, Global Labor & Employment.

Team Leadership
* Manage and mentor a high‑performing team in Sydney, Australia and Bangalore, India.

Strategic Partnership
* Serve as a trusted legal partner to internal groups to navigate sensitive and wide‑ranging issues such as non‑competition agreements, hiring, AI adoption, discipline, investigations, wage and hour, leaves of absence, workplace accommodations, terminations, workforce restructuring, new country expansion, and company initiatives.
* Transform and scale the team’s ability to support increased and overlapping M&A activity.
Policy & Compliance
* Partner with stakeholders to determine strategy and approach on employment‑related policies, guidelines, trainings, and processes, balancing pragmatism, risk, and compliance.
Inquiries & Litigation
* Investigate and respond to demand letters and administrative or governmental inquiries.
* Manage labor and employment litigation matters with internal and external counsel and derive data‑driven insights.
Regional Support
* Provide legal support for JAPAC Employee Success and employee relations business partners, partnering with regional leaders and guiding Indian operations.
Required Skills / Experience
* Law degree.
* Licensed to practice law in Australia.
* Significant experience working in in‑house legal departments across JAPAC, especially with Indian operations.
* 15+ years of combined employment law experience in a law firm and/or in‑house legal department, preferably senior roles in a multinational technology company.
* Proven experience managing a high‑performing team with operational excellence and data‑driven advocacy.
* Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.
* Experience using AI tools and familiarity with AI governance principles.
* Demonstrated success working with cross‑functional teams.
* Highly responsive and service‑oriented attitude.
* Ability to organize, prioritize and manage deadlines, workflow, and team execution in a fast‑paced environment.
* Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with demanding internal clients.
* Sound and practical business judgment.
