About the Role
As Senior Manager, Group Tax, you will lead the bank's end-to-end tax function, ensuring strong governance, compliance, and risk management across both direct and indirect taxes. Sitting within Group Finance, this role plays a critical part in safeguarding the organisation's tax position while supporting broader strategic initiatives, including finance transformation and modernisation. You will oversee all tax obligations, ensuring timely and accurate reporting while maintaining compliance with evolving regulatory and ATO requirements.
In this role, you will act as the subject matter expert for complex tax matters, providing clear, pragmatic advice to senior stakeholders across Finance, Risk, and the wider business. You'll take ownership of the Group's tax risk framework, ensuring robust controls, governance, and documentation are in place, while also acting as the key contact for external audits and regulatory reviews.
You will also play a key role in shaping and embedding tax requirements within broader transformation programs, driving continuous improvement across systems, processes, and controls. This includes leveraging technology and automation to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across the function, ensuring the team is well-positioned to meet future demands.
Leading a small but high-performing team, you will foster a collaborative and accountable culture while managing relationships with external advisors, including Big 4 partners. With regular exposure to senior leadership, you will provide insightful reporting and play a key role in influencing decision-making on tax matters across the Group.
About You
You are an experienced tax leader with deep expertise across corporate tax, including both direct and indirect taxes, and a strong track record in compliance, governance, and risk management within complex environments. You bring a commercial mindset, with the ability to translate technical tax matters into clear, practical insights for stakeholders, and are confident engaging at a senior level across the business.
You are naturally proactive and detail-oriented, with a passion for continuous improvement and transformation. With strong leadership capability, you enjoy developing teams and building trusted relationships, both internally and with external partners. A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is essential, with CA/CPA (or equivalent) highly regarded.
