- Part time fixed term until 31 December 2026 (30 hours per week)

- Base Salary $156,103 + 17% superannuation
About the opportunity
The Charles Perkins Centre Population Domain are seeking a Senior Research Fellow to provide oversight of the Epidemiology Hub and expertise in population and metabolic heath research. The CPC is the University’s largest multidisciplinary research initiative whose mission is to ease the burden of obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease and their related health conditions. This position will be based at the University of Sydney Camperdown campus.
Your responsibilities will be to:
- conduct original and innovative research using linked cohort and administrative health data
- establish collaborations and partnerships with members across CPC to facilitate population health research projects in areas of chronic and lifestyle diseases
- apply epidemiological and research methods to investigate the burden and risk factors of chronic disease
- lead successful competitive research grants and/or generate other research income through diverse funding opportunities
- producing high-quality publications, deliver keynote addresses and contribute to research dissemination with significant population health impact
- contribute to the expansion of the team’s research capacity and outputs through mentoring and supervision of postgraduate research students and early career researchers.
About you, you will have:
- PhD with postgraduate qualifications in clinical epidemiology, public health or related degree
- clinical training in diet, lifestyle or metabolic diseases
- demonstrated research experience conducting clinical studies or trials in diet, lifestyle and metabolic diseases
- extensive experience in clinical and population metabolic health research, including systematic reviews and meta-analyses
- demonstrated experience conducting research using linked administrative health datasets, applying advanced epidemiological methods and statistical techniques
- track record in research communication, including conference presentations, media engagement and participation in community forums
- established collaboration and networks (national and international) with researchers, clinicians, consumers and government in the area of chronic and metabolic disease
- experience in the mentoring and supervision of early career researchers and postgraduate research students with student completions.
