Latrobe Regional Health is looking for Chief Cardiac Physiologist to join our growing team on a full time (1.0 EFT) ongoing basis.
The Chief Cardiac Physiologist provides senior clinical, operational and professional leadership to the Cardiac Diagnostics team within the Cardiology Department. The role is responsible for overseeing delivery of high-quality cardiac diagnostic services, ensuring clinical excellence, compliance with professional standards and continuous service development in a regional health setting. Working collaboratively with cardiologists, nursing leaders and multidisciplinary teams, the Chief Cardiac Physiologist supports advanced diagnostic services, workforce capability, innovation and quality improvement, while contributing to the delivery of critical acute cardiac services including ST‑elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) care.
Responsibilities
* Oversee the delivery of high-quality cardiac diagnostic services, including ECG, Holter monitoring, exercise stress testing, echocardiography, and pacemaker/ICD clinics, ensuring adherence to professional standards and Medicare billing requirements.
* Provide clinical and operational leadership to cardiac physiologists and cardiac sonographers, supporting workforce planning, recruitment, education and ongoing professional development.
* Drive service development, innovation and quality improvement initiatives to enhance cardiac diagnostic and interventional services across the organisation.
* Support the delivery of acute cardiac services by working closely with the Cath Lab NUM, including implementation of STEMI protocols, emergency response workflows and equipment management.
* Ensure compliance with accreditation, infection control, workplace safety, regulatory and National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) standards.
* Collaborate with cardiologists, emergency services and regional referral hospitals to optimise patient outcomes and facilitate timely transfers for acute cardiac presentations.
About you
* A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Cardiac Physiology, Medical Science or a related field, with current registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant professional body.
* Extensive experience in cardiac diagnostics, including echocardiography, stress testing, pacemaker/ICD clinics and advanced cardiac technologies.
* Proven leadership and management experience within a healthcare setting, with the ability to support staff wellbeing, performance and professional growth.
* Demonstrated expertise managing or supporting a Coronary Catheterisation Laboratory and leading STEMI services, including emergency response coordination.
* Strong commitment to quality improvement, innovation, ongoing professional development and adapting practice within a regional healthcare environment.
