Teacher Aide (Temporary Part–Time 0.92FTE)
An exciting opportunity exists for skilled and organised Teacher Aides to join us at Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre (BYETC). BYETC is a unique Department of Education school located within the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre at Wacol. We have multiple positions available and are seeking enthusiastic Teacher Aides who can provide general classroom support across a range of learning areas, while also welcoming applicants with experience or interest in supporting Technology and Design (ITD). This position is being offered in a Temporary Part‐Time capacity (0.92FTE), 70 hours per fortnight.

The Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre (BYETC) is a unique Department of Education school located within the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre in Wacol. Supporting young people aged 10‐18, BYETC plays a vital role in empowering students to build knowledge, develop practical skills, and strengthen the values needed for positive decision‐making and future success. We are seeking competent Teacher Aides who can support both general classroom environments and our Industrial Technology and Design (ITD) department.
Industrial Technology and Design
* A Manual Arts Teacher Aide will support Manual Arts teachers by preparing equipment, tools, and materials prior to classes. Responsibilities also include constructing project examples, maintaining stock and equipment, performing general cleaning duties, and assisting students with their practical work during lessons.
* The ideal applicant will have experience in the building, construction, or metalwork industry, along with the ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and support student learning in a workshop environment.
Horticulture
* A Horticultural Teacher Aide supports trainers in delivering practical, hands‐on learning for students completing a Certificate I in Horticulture.
* The role involves assisting students to develop skills in landscaping, lawn maintenance, nursery operations, plant propagation, and irrigation.
* The Teacher Aide models safe work practices, reinforces training instructions, and helps maintain tools, equipment, and grounds to industry standards.
* The ideal applicant brings experience in horticulture or nursery work, demonstrates a genuine passion for gardening, and is committed to supporting students to build confidence, practical skills, and pathways into employment.
