Position Information

Middleton Grange PS is founded on proud Aboriginal land (the Cabrogal Clan of the Dharug Nation) and Australian history and achievement, particularly in the area of aviation. The school opened in 2009 in a recent and still developing suburb of the Liverpool Local Government Area and is part of the New Schools Public Private Partnership Program.

The school population has fluctuating enrolments due to ongoing housing development and transience of Australian Defence families (currently 430 students in 17 mainstream class groupings in addition to seven special education Support Classes for 52 students with Autism and/or Moderate Intellectual Disability). Diversity of cultural heritage is acknowledged and respected. Our school's current population comprises students predominantly from low socio-economic backgrounds, and of whom 69% are from language backgrounds other than English (representing 37 different language groups), and 13 students who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander.

We recognise the vital partnership between home and school in achieving success for all individuals. We are an active member of multiple learning alliances to provide support and greater diversity of opportunities for students, staff and our community.

Specific Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary with exceptional skills in evidenced-based, explicit teaching, effective feedback and differentiation in English and Mathematics. Demonstrated high level experience in providing differentiated support and mentorship for a diverse staff whilst balancing the dual role of classroom teacher and member of the executive team to support the implementation and evaluation of the School Excellence Plan (SEP). Demonstrated ability to provide visible, approachable and relational leadership with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to build positive and collaborative partnerships. Demonstrated expertise in leading differentiated high impact professional learning, ensuring the continual development of teacher capability and growth across all key learning areas.

General Selection Criteria

- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
