Electricians play a crucial role in maintaining the reliability and safety of power distribution networks. As an Electrician with Mount Isa Mines, you will be responsible for ensuring the high voltage network is well-maintained and efficiently operated.
Job Description:
The role involves routine maintenance of electrical equipment, breakdown works, installation/replacement of electrical equipment within switchyards and substations, problem diagnosis and predictive maintenance jobs. You will also be required to test and commission HV equipment, assist with switching operations, and attend to breakdown repairs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Routine maintenance of electrical equipment, including battery charges, switchboards, power transformers, circuit breakers, and other indoor/outdoor HV switchgear
• Testing and commissioning of HV equipment, including 132kV/33kV/11kV/3.3kV reticulation systems
• Assisting with switching operations and maintaining the power distribution network for safe and reliable operation
• Attending to breakdown repairs and performing predictive maintenance jobs
Required Skills and Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will require:
* A recognized Electrical trade qualification
* Ability to obtain a Queensland Electrical licence
* Current manual drivers' licence
* Sound understanding of workplace Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
* Experience in the HV and mining industry
* Excellent troubleshooting & problem-solving skills
* Ability to work well in a team environment
