Registered Nurse - Scrub Scout
Position: Registered Nurse – Scrub Scout (Full-time, flexible rostering, with part-time and casual options considered for strong candidates). Location: Newcastle Private Hospital, John Hunter Health Campus, Rankin Park, Newcastle, NSW.
Summary
As a member of our Perioperative team, you will deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care and support a high-functioning team during a wide range of surgical procedures, including Neurosurgery, Vascular, Cardio-thoracic, General, Urology, Gynae, and Robotics. The role requires a proactive approach to quality improvement, patient education, and collaboration with the broader healthcare team.
Responsibilities
Deliver safe, research-based standards of nursing care.
Supervise, direct and guide nursing team members (ENs and AINs) to deliver patient care.
Provide education and support to patients for management of their health, recovery, rehabilitation, or end-of-life needs.
Lead successful quality improvement and safety management projects to achieve desired outcomes.
Collaborate with the wider healthcare team to support patient care needs.
Act as a role model for safe practice.
Essential Criteria
Minimum 3 years RN experience in Scrub Scout/Perioperative Nursing.
Proven perioperative experience in at least one specialty: Neurosurgery, Vascular, Cardio-thoracic, General, Urology, Gynae, Robotics.
Authority to work in Australia and AHPRA registration (no restriction).
Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or equivalent.
Current NSW Working with Children Check.
Commitment to high quality patient care, continuous improvement, and professional development.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; proactive, motivated, customer-focused.
Desirable Criteria
Postgraduate Certificate in Perioperative Nursing (or progressing towards it).

Compensation
Salary based on years of relevant registered nursing experience, aligned with the Healthscope and NSWNMA/ANMF – NSW Nurses and Midwives' – Enterprise Agreement ****. Ranges from $***** to $***** per hour.
