Job Description:
The Computer Scientist position plays a pivotal role in the Adelaide Football Club's ability to capture, manage and leverage football data across AFL and SANFL programs.
This key member of the team will collaborate closely with the High-Performance group, coaches and the Data & Analytics department to build and maintain data pipelines, manage performance databases and integrate multiple sources of game and tracking data to support on-field performance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, Build and Maintain Automated Data Pipelines: Develop and implement efficient automated data pipelines for ingesting, cleaning and transforming football-related datasets (e.g., GPS, match stats, video metadata).
* Database Management: Oversee internal databases and cloud-based storage solutions, ensuring data integrity, consistency and security.
* Data Integration: Integrate multiple data sources, including Champion Data, Catapult, Hudl and Strength & Conditioning systems.
* Analytics Tools: Enable analytical tools such as Tableau, R, Python and SQL to connect to structured data sources.
* Dashboard Deployment: Support the deployment of dashboards and reporting tools to assist coaches and physical performance staff.
* Collaboration and Training: Work collaboratively with analysts and coaches to understand data needs and enhance workflows. Document data processes and provide training/support to team members on data access and use.
