At Moree Plains Shire Council, we are seeking a strategic, values-driven and outcomes-focused executive leader to join our organisation as Director Infrastructure. This is a key leadership opportunity for an experienced infrastructure professional to lead the delivery of essential services, drive operational excellence and contribute to the long-term sustainability of our growing regional community.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the General Manager and forming part of Council's Executive Leadership Team, the Director Infrastructure will provide strategic leadership across a broad and diverse portfolio including roads and transport, water and wastewater, recreation and public spaces, waste and sustainability, asset management, depot operations, plant and logistics and capital works delivery.

This role is responsible for leading large multidisciplinary teams, driving service improvement and ensuring Council's infrastructure and operational services are delivered safely, efficiently and sustainably in line with community expectations and legislative requirements.

Your key responsibilities will include:
* Leading the strategic planning, delivery and maintenance of Council's infrastructure assets and operational services across multiple functional areas.
* Providing expert advice to the General Manager, Executive Leadership Team and Council on infrastructure, engineering, asset management and operational matters.
* Driving long-term asset management planning, capital works programming and sustainable service delivery outcomes.
* Overseeing the successful delivery of operational and capital works programs, ensuring compliance with legislative, environmental and engineering standards.
* Leading strategic financial management across the Directorate, including budgeting, resource allocation, procurement, tendering and grant funding opportunities.
* Driving operational reform, innovation and continuous improvement initiatives to modernise services and improve customer outcomes.
* Fostering a high-performing, values-led culture focused on accountability, safety, collaboration and continuous improvement.
* Building productive relationships with Councillors, government agencies, contractors, consultants, regional stakeholders and the broader community.
* Ensuring strong governance, risk management, environmental compliance and Work Health and Safety practices across the Directorate.
* Leading and developing a diverse workforce while strengthening organisational capability and succession planning outcomes.

About You

You are a strategic and influential leader with strong operational, commercial and political acumen. You have the ability to lead complex infrastructure environments, drive organisational improvement and deliver sustainable outcomes for the community.

To succeed in this role, you'll bring:

* Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or a related discipline.
* Extensive senior leadership experience across infrastructure, engineering, operational services or asset management.
* Strong experience in strategic infrastructure planning, capital works delivery and operational service management.
* Proven financial and commercial management capability, including budgeting, procurement, contracts and grant funding.
* Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, drive accountability and foster a high-performing workplace culture.
* Highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to provide sound advice to senior leaders, Councillors and the community.
* Strong commitment to governance, safety, risk management and continuous improvement.
