Qualifications
* Have 1+ years of relevant experience in custom structural welding will be highly preferred.
* A relevant trade certificate.
* Ability to work under pressure in a fast‐paced environment.
* Strong existing client relationships with client facing skills.
* Knowledge of VIC local standards and processes – local authorities and contractors.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
* Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols to determine specifications, materials, and welding techniques required for each project.
* Select, cut, and prepare all the appropriate metal materials using different cutting equipment.
* Shape and bend the materials with the correct equipment as required by each project.
* Position and secure workpieces using clamps, jigs, or fixtures to ensure proper alignment before welding.
* Operate welding equipment to fuse metal parts in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
* Inspect and test completed welds for accuracy, strength, and conformity to specifications using measuring tools, gauges, and visual inspection.
* Maintain welding equipment and ensure tools are in protected and operational condition by conducting routine checks and minor repairs.
* Apply appropriate welding techniques based on material type, thickness, and required finish, including pre‐heating or post‐heating processes when needed.
* Grind and clean welded joints or surfaces to remove imperfections using power tools or abrasive materials.
* Adhere strictly to workplace safety protocols, wearing appropriate protective gear and managing hazards such as fumes, sparks, and high temperatures.
* Collaborate with metal fabricators or supervisors to troubleshoot issues, improve weld quality, and ensure timely project completion.
