Position Overview

The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (the Commission) was formed on 1 January 2019. It is Australia's sole independent regulator of aged care services, working to improve the lives of older people by maintaining the integrity of the aged care system.

The Operations Officer – Risk Based Monitoring (RBM) role provides administrative and operational support to the Risk Based Monitoring teams in Brisbane (QLD) and Sydney (Parramatta, NSW). The position works under limited direction, supporting the day‐to‐day operation of the team and ensuring compliance with policy, legislation and regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

* Conduct a holistic range of administrative processes and support functions, including email, correspondence, record management, coordination of non‐regulatory travel and equipment for inspectorate activities, and system/database maintenance.
* Manage individual tasks and priorities under limited direction, applying sound judgement and attention to detail to deliver accurate and timely outcomes.
* Handle sensitive and potentially distressing material with professionalism and empathy, maintaining emotional resilience and ensuring the dignity of those involved.
* Develop and deliver communication materials and maintain the team's SharePoint pages to provide timely, accurate and current information.
* Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships through strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, representing the team in stakeholder meetings and forums.
* Contribute to fostering a collaborative and knowledge‐sharing team environment by supporting capability building initiatives and promoting efficient resource use.
* Review, maintain and identify gaps in operational processes, tools and digital systems to support accuracy, accessibility and continuous improvement of workflow and operational practices.
* Assist in the development, implementation and review of operational processes and guidance materials, ensuring alignment with legislation and Commission standards.
* Analyze and interpret moderately complex information from a range of sources to support the Inspectorate Planning and Coordination team with reporting.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

* Demonstrated experience in operations, administrative management and/or service delivery roles within a defined framework.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a geographically dispersed team, supporting operational delivery in a dynamic environment.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and digital collaboration tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe, MS Teams and SharePoint).
* Strong planning and organisational skills, managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines with high accuracy.
* Sound analytical and problem‐solving skills, assessing information from multiple sources and proposing practical solutions.
* Effective stakeholder management, interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills, with resilience and discretion when handling sensitive content.
* Highly developed written communication skills, including preparing clear documentation and internal guidance.
* Sound judgement, solution‐focused mindset and initiative to deliver team operational objectives.
* Understanding of and compliance with legislation, policies and regulatory frameworks relevant to the Commission.

Salary and Benefits

Salary offered will be between $89,135 – $96,829 per annum, depending on skills and experience. An additional 15.4% superannuation will be paid.

Eligibility and Legal Requirements

Only candidates who hold Australian citizenship can apply. Appointment is conditional on successfully completing a national police check.
