Job Summary

This is a 6‐month fixed‐term full‐time position commencing Term 3, 2026, with possible extension or permanency. John Curtin College of the Arts (JCCA) is a leader in public education located on Wadjuk Boodjar in Walyalup (Fremantle) and caters for 1,700 students from Years 7 to 12.

The Role

As a Technical Support Officer – Arts you will support the delivery of the arts, including Gifted and Talented programs, by preparing, maintaining and organising specialist learning spaces. You will assist with practical, hands‐on tasks including costume construction, and the set‐up of production materials and equipment.

You will maintain appropriate documentation for all equipment, machinery, and materials in accordance with occupational safety and health requirements.

The successful applicant will work collaboratively as part of a production team, contributing to the operation of school performances, exhibitions and creative projects, ensuring safe, efficient and high‐quality artistic learning experiences for students.

Media Arts

Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining specialist media spaces such as studios, editing suites and production equipment, ensuring that students can safely and confidently engage in filming, sound recording and post‐production work. The role provides technical guidance, troubleshoots equipment, and assists with practical demonstrations to help students bring complex creative concepts to life.

It also supports a busy production schedule, contributing to school films, broadcasts, exhibitions and assessments that showcase advanced student work. Working closely with teaching staff, the Media Technician enhances the creative and technical quality of student projects by setting up professional‐standard equipment, managing digital assets and ensuring smooth, efficient production workflows.

o Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Western Australian Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984 and its coverage in industrial environments.
o Demonstrated good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with individuals at all levels.
o Demonstrated effective time management, planning and organisational skills.
