* Finance & Investment Division
* Adelaide (SA), Brisbane (QLD), Canberra (ACT), Melbourne (VIC) or Sydney (NSW)

As an APS6 Finance Business Partner, you play a key role in supporting the department's financial sustainability and informed decision‐making. By providing high‐quality, timely financial advice, you help business areas manage their resources effectively, identify and mitigate risks and meet legislative and policy obligations. Your work supports sound financial governance and strengthens financial capability across the organisation, contributing directly to the delivery of the department's priorities and outcomes.

Why you are important to us and what impact will you have on the Finance & Investment Division and the departments' goal.

The Finance and Investment Division ensures the department remains financially sustainable, compliant and well‐equipped to meet its goals. We provide expert financial advice, tools and support to help teams manage budgets, make informed decisions and use public resources responsibly. By partnering across the department, we help align financial processes with strategic priorities. We also support ministers and stakeholders with clear, accurate financial insights that drive effective policy and program delivery.

The Financial Management and Investment Branch provides expert financial support across accounting, budgeting, tax, loans and compliance. Our team offers tailored advice, training and hands‐on assistance to help staff manage resources effectively and meet financial obligations. We ensure public funds are used responsibly and transparently, supporting the department's financial sustainability. By partnering with teams across the department, we help align financial practices with strategic goals and enable informed decision‐making at every level.

The Finance Business Partner Section provides strategic and operational financial advice to divisions across the department. The section prepares monthly financial management reports, monitors budgets and forecasts aligned to business plans, and acts as a key liaison between business areas and the Chief Finance Officer (CFO).

This is where you play an important role.

In this role, you will provide strategic and operational financial advice across budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and resource management. Working closely with business areas, you will deliver accurate financial information, support budget development and monitoring, and contribute to the continuous improvement of financial management practices. You will work collaboratively within the Finance Business Partner team, under the direction of the Assistant Director, to deliver client‐focused solutions and high‐quality financial outcomes.

Responsibilities
* Provide strategic and operational financial advice and analysis on divisional or group financial performance.
* Deliver accurate, timely and value‐adding financial information and independent advice to internal stakeholders, including regular financial, resource and business reporting.
* Support the preparation and analysis of budgets and forecasts as well as the monitoring of operational and capital expenditure.
* Contribute to the identification and implementation of improved financial management practices, ensuring compliance with relevant legislative and policy requirements.
* Work collaboratively within the section/team to support a high‐performing, client‐focused and solution‐driven team with clear accountabilities and expected behaviours.

Note that this recruitment process will initially be used to fill two ongoing and one non‐ongoing vacancies and that the roles may be able to be performed from any of the locations listed on the Job Description. The merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing and non‐ongoing vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a similar nature.
