Maintenance Fitter - Herons Creek Timber Mill

About the Position
Our Herons Creek site, based in the highly desirable mid-north coast region, is filled with a welcoming and social team. We are seeking experienced Maintenance Fitters with a strong work ethic to join us on a Permanent Full-time basis, covering afternoon shifts. If you enjoy working across different fixed plant equipment and machinery, we are interested in talking to you.
Our large site at Herons Creek comprises both a Saw Mill and Dry Mill. You will report to our Maintenance Supervisor and will be responsible for both preventative and corrective maintenance of site plant and equipment to a high standard, enabling maximum production levels to be sustained.
We are looking for candidates who are available to pick up permanent afternoon shifts at the following times:
* Monday to Thursday 3pm – 11pm
* Friday 12pm – 6pm
We offer a competitive hourly rate, which varies depending on experience, as well as afternoon shift allowance and paid overtime opportunities as required.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain production levels by ensuring fixed plant equipment functions correctly to minimize downtime.
* Perform repairs and services on various fixed plant machinery, including circular and band saws, automatic stacking equipment, gas-fired kilns, moulders, & robotic packaging lines.
* Use sound judgment in maintenance decisions, prioritizing employee health and safety.
* Minimize breakdown time through quick fixes and thorough repairs between shifts.
Qualifications and Skills
* Substantial experience as a maintenance fitter in a production or manufacturing environment.
* Qualification in Engineering - Mechanical Trade or relevant field.
* Knowledge of occupational health and safety standards.
* Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics is highly regarded.
* Additional tickets such as working at heights, confined spaces are desirable.
* Effective communication skills with team members and stakeholders.
* Self-motivated, capable of working independently and in a team.
* Willingness to adapt and improve processes.
