About the Opportunity

As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, you will gain practical experience within the Maintenance and Projects Department, working closely with Static Engineers on reliability, maintenance, and project-related activities.

Responsibilities

* Support maintenance and reliability-based projects, working closely with operations, maintenance, and project teams
* Assist in planning, budgeting, cost control, and job prioritisation activities
* Coordinate jobs, review scopes, ensure quality execution, post‐job documentation and SAP update
* Assist in drafting scope of works for static projects and liaising with the Procurement team for the tendering process
* Apply engineering principles in analysing static loads, pressure loads, thermal expansion, vibration effects, and piping support stress calculations
* Contribute to preventive maintenance processes and asset management practices
* Participate in quality inspections, equipment assessments and commissioning activities
* Perform data analysis, root cause analysis, and support continuous improvement initiatives
* Develop experience in contractor management, job coordination and safety planning
* Build knowledge of Major Hazard Facility requirements, engineering standards, and statutory compliance
* Gain exposure to condition monitoring, static equipment (pressure vessels, piping, valves), and applicable codes and standards (ASME, API, AS, ISO)
* Support plant reliability, efficiency and cost optimisation initiatives
* Apply a systematic and analytical approach to problem‐solving and decision‐making
* Review and assist in drafting Engineering drawings in AutoCAD
* Ensure compliance with Safety and regulatory requirements for pressure vessels, PRVs and inspection/asset integrity requirements
* Complete required HESQ training, participate in emergency response activities and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment (including opportunities to take on site emergency roles)

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with Masters/Honours or equivalent
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English essential
* Ability to work effectively in a team environment
* Proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and development
* Ability to perform work responsibly, minimising risks and potential issues
* Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
* Australian or NewZealand citizenship, or permanent residency (temporary visa holders are not eligible)
* Willingness to relocate to Karratha, WA for the duration of the program

Benefits

* Complimentary employer‐provided housing or $46,000 per year Karratha housing allowance
* $35,000 per year regional location allowance
* Annual bonus – target of up to one month's base salary

* $3,000 per year utilities reimbursement (electricity/water) subject to eligibility
