Join Our Team as an Education Assistant – Special Needs

Kalamunda Primary Education Support Centre (KP ESC) is looking for dedicated, caring, and proactive Education Assistants – Special Needs to join our team. We are establishing a pool of enthusiastic individuals for permanent and fixed‐term, full‐time and part‐time opportunities that may arise throughout the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
The Role
As an Education Assistant – Special Needs, you will work closely with teachers to support students with diverse learning needs across our Kindergarten to Year 6 classrooms. You will assist with implementing, delivering, and assessing educational programs, while also helping to create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
We are seeking individuals who ideally
* Are positive, motivated, and self‐reflective
* Have experience working with students with diverse learning needs
* Can support individual, small‐group, and whole‐class programs
* Have knowledge of documented plans and student progress evaluation
* Possess strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
Experience in explicit teaching programs within an Education Support setting will be highly regarded.
Additional Skills & Experience
* Supporting students with medical health plans
* Using positive behaviour support strategies
* Implementing TEACCH strategies
* Supporting Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) approaches

* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
* Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
* Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
