Our 24-bed Acute Surgical Ward is a fast-paced, high-performing unit within a Level 4 Rural Referral Hospital. We care for patients undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures including Orthopaedics, Urology, Gynaecology, and General Surgery. Here, your clinical expertise, empathy, and teamwork contribute directly to improving lives at moments that matter most.
About the Role:
As a Registered Nurse in the Surgical Ward, you'll be part of a skilled and compassionate team caring for acute surgical patients from admission to discharge. Your work will combine technical excellence with human connection — easing pain, guiding recovery, and supporting patients and families through often challenging experiences.
A typical day may include:
* Providing evidence-based, person-centred care in a dynamic surgical environment
* Collaborating closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, and allied health professionals to achieve the best outcomes
* Managing post-operative care, wound management, and complex clinical presentations
* Educating and empowering patients and families to participate in recovery and discharge planning
* Contributing to continuous improvement through ward rounds, case conferences, and professional development
